Kruger Park Trees - Jackalberry Tree

The Jackalberry Tree (Diospyros mespiliformus), also known as the African Ebony Tree, is a tall deciduous tree species with a very dark bark. This tree is very tall and can grow upwards of more than 80 feet. The Jackalberry Tree is mostly found in riverine habitats and is rarely browsed, but the fruits of this tree, which it bares between September and October) are eaten by a variety of bird species and Vervet Monkeys.
