Skukuza
Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park is the biggest camp in the Kruger
and is actually classed as a Town. Its the hub and administrative centre
of the park. Skukuza is huge and offers anything anyone could want for a
luxury Kruger safari. But if you want a secluded truly wild experience
this is probably not the camp to stay in. It is always busy and often
full. Skukuza is situated 12 kilometers from the Paul Kruger Gate, on
the banks of the Sabie River, it is in a beautiful location with a host
of wildlife species.

Skukuza Rest Camp Accommodation
There are many types of accommodation to cater for anyone in the Kruger who wants to stay at Skukuza Rest Camp. There are 80 tent and caravan sites that are equipped with a power point and braai area. There are also communal ablutions and kitchen available. There are 20 permanent luxury canvas tents, 178 bungalows, 20 luxury bungalows, 15 guest cottages, 4 guest houses and a family cottage.
Skukuza Rest Camp Activities
Many activities can be done from Skukuza which include; Guided Game Drives, Bush Walks, Walk around camp, Bush Braais, 9-hole Golf Course, Stevenson Hamilton Memorial library, Metsi Metsi Wilderness Trail, Seasonal Children Programme and wildlife films on show most evenings.
Skukuza Rest Camp Facilities
Skukuza has the most facilities out of any camp in the Kruger and includes: Wi-Fi, internet cafe, telephone, bank, atm, post office, car hire, 2 restaurants, deli, shop, laundromat, petrol station, car garage and workshop, first aid, conference facilities, day visitor area, 2 swimming pools, car wash and nursery.
Skukuza Rest Camp Wildlife
Various wildlife can be found in and around the
Skukuza camp, and you can have a field day (Day or night) seeking the
camp's reptiles,
mammals,
birds
and insects. The
birding at Skukuza is excellent with the following to look out for:
Orangebreasted Bush Shrike, Purple Crested Turaco, Tawnyflanked Prinia,
Crested Barbet, Fierynecked Nightjar, African Green Pigeon, African
Scops Owl, Whitebrowed Robin Chat, Blue Waxbill, Southern Boubou,
Hamerkop, Woodland Kingfisher, Brownhooded Kingfisher, and many
different species of Sunbird, Hornbill, Starling and Weaver.
The larger animals to seek out include the Greater Canerat, Epaulette Fruit Bat, Porcupine, Thick Tailed Bushbaby, Banded Mongoose, Warthog, Honey Badger, Bushbuck, Impala, Vervet Monkey, Tree Squirrel, Civet and Scrub Hare.
