Drives In and Around the Satara Camp Vicinity | Kruger National Park


 In June 2006 I completed a 5 day stay in the Park and did a number of drives mainly in the Satara region. Below is a list and brief summary of the drives made. It was impossible to complete all the drives in the 4 days. The S90, S100, S40 and S41 are well known and important game viewing drives.

Puffadder and Lioness on the S90 and a Big Elephant Tusker on the S100 The lioness had lost her cubs and was looking for them. The Puffadder was slowly crossing the S90 road and the Tusker was munching on the banks of the N'Wanetsi.

Girivana Loop via the Msemani Dam on the H7 Kruger National park After the morning drive and excitement of the S90 and S100 this short loop was an anti-climax but did this change the next day ...

Timbavati White Lion Country West of Satara Kruger Park South Africa Great drives along the Sweni and Timbavati Rivers.

N'Wanetsi Picnic Spot, Sweni Bird Hide, Harry Wolhuter Memorial The H6 to N'wanetsi Picnic Spot and the Sweni Bird Hide are very special places. And who would want to miss the HC (Harry) Wolhuter memorial?

Kruger National Park Drive via Skukuza and Pretoriuskop We'd come to the end of our stay and needed to get home despite the desire to stay just a bit longer ... always a surprise : we got one of the best sightings of the trip near Skukuza
